Gouache

Gouache is a form of opaque watercolor. One of my favorite subjects to paint with it is insects, especially beetles.  Their variety is astounding, and their colors are spectacular. Gouache is the best medium for these paintings: it is rich in color, and can be used in layers, but the paint can also be re-activated at will.

I love to lose myself in the long process of putting down every detail as lifelike as possible.
